regular batteries (duracell, energizer, etc) work in digital cameras, right? because i think the lithium batteries i bought for the thing are beyond dead and i'm going to the carnegie's "bizarre beast" exhibit with a friend around noon today and didn't want to recharge the lithium ones only to find out that they were still dead when i got there.

stupid question to make a thread about, but a certian boyfriend of mine can't be located atm.

thanks!

YES, as long as you put the correct battery size in the camera ( AA, AAA, etc. ) ANY cell chemistry will run it.

Lithium Ion batteries are just the new kid on the block. They are lighter than other batteries. They run "OK" but are not as rugged as the old school cell types.

Just for future reference, whenever your not using the battery, keep them on the chargers. Batteries can develop what they call MEMORY and if not kept conditioned they will think 1/2, 1/4 etc are full when the battery is not.

I could go on forever, but I will stop now.

Memory effect is mostly a myth for the sort of batteries commonly used in consumer hardware. All batteries age, and eventually can't hold much of a charge anymore. Lithium batteries, unfortunately, have a shorter lifespan than other rechargeable types. Expensive too.

I told you this many many times before. Any AA will work. Write it down, tattoo it on your arm... if people tell you that you NEED rechargables, they're full of shit. Also, you posted this BEFORE you tried calling me.

My area of expertise.

Get the following and STAY AWAY FROM ALKALINE

lithium= best
nimh= rechargeable
oxyride= pretty good but still pricey
titanium= better than alkaline and cheaper

If you want the most pics for you buck, get the lithiums

well, not saying I'm an expert ( by no means am I an expert ) but since I happen to work for a battery manufacturer I do have to say Memory is not a myth.

As for Lithium Ion being the cream of the crop, nooooot really. If everyone one remembers Lithium ion batteries are recalled quite often because they catch fire. The are slightly tempermental and don't like temp. changes.

The work horse battery, which works well in most climates really is the NiCad.

Just my two cents.

I got these NiCad ones I use in my CD player (damn fucking right I still use a CD player for traveling!), and they last a good 12 hours with all settings on (EQ, ESP, etc.), compared to the normal battery of 4 hours.

I highly suggest using NiCad batteries!

There are some digital cameras, such as some Sony's, that won't take anything except for those special Camera Batteries. It's a pain in the ass.
