g tone

hey guys just needing some advice on my tone i was going for the dime sound from great southern trendkill but i think its maybe lacking in bottom end possible mic'ed to close to the centre of the cone.

Amp: 5150 - clean channel using a daelectro tab tone
Cab: 2x12 vht
Mics: Audix i5 Straight on / 421II, 45 deg

You're definitely on the right path...it's got that harsh high end like dime's tone, maybe a little too much. Almost sounds more like the tone from Cowboys from Hell. I haven't listened to any of these albums in quite some time, though. You may be dead on for all I know.

yeah i tried a range of pedal like the mxr dime and rocktron rampage but couldnt only find that harsh tone from the danelectro which ive had hidden away for the ebst of 7 years or so.

the audix i5 is a killer mic aswell for anyone lookin for a decent mike id highly reccomend that.

thing is with the tone im not sure if its gonna work well in a mix im working with dfh superior at the moment ill try and get some riffs down and make a post at somepoint.
