You can put all the laws in place that you want, but if someone is determined, they will break them. You could have one person follow the laws to a T but if something inside tells them they must shoot someone, they will do it. I don't see where any kind of gun law would have prevented what happened. (BTW, I don't own a gun or even shoot them, but you don't see me screaming for laws against them.)

I am so against guns, but I dont agree with you one bit. Criminals will always get a gun no matter what law is passed. This terrible incident would have happened no matter what. From reading the reports the guy was a loon, he was stalikng Daryl before the show, and hoped a 7 foot fence to get in. Guns dont kill people. Stupid Mother Fuckers with guns kill people.

i have to say i agree with the majority here. this didn't really have anything to do with gun laws. this guy was an ex marine and a normal citizen who had never been in prison, so the gun laws really wouldn't have applied to him anyway. he was just fucked up emotionally. laws can't do anything about that.

I agree with everyone about the gun laws. All that would do would be to keep guns out of the law-abiding citizens' hands and the criminals would still find ways to get guns. Besides that, I believe this guy used to be in the military, so I would think he'd be able to get his hands on weapons a little bit easier than the average joe.

Every year 10 000 are killed by guns in the US. That's a world record! No other country (except countries at war) has such high death rates.
So, that's why I'd be for better gun-Laws, if it was my country.

Unfortunately, tougher stricter gun laws will not change the amount of violence and gun related deaths in this country every year. Who remembers talking about prohibition in history class when they made booze illegal. The criminals (Kennedy's) got rich, while my Grandfather who was in the FBI was murdered on Monomoy Point (a local beach that's now a wild life refuge). He was just doing his job, and was killed for it. If something is illegal, it's big business and big money in organized crime. Just ask a Kennedy.

I'm not familiar with the number of people killed with guns in other countries. (that is "with," not "by," as guns are inanimate objects) I would expect more in the US than many other places because of the higher US population. I would blame a lot of gun crime on two major factors. The first is the war on drugs, which I strongly oppose. This leads to violence in the black market. The second is the gun laws preventing innocent people from being able to fully protect themselves. You will find more criminals using guns where they know their victims are disarmed. Not all criminals are idiots. Anyway, how does a country like Switzerland, which is armed to the teeth, compare to the rest of Europe? Do you know?
Finally, I must admit the statistics don't matter that much to me when fundamental rights are at stake. In order for my government to enforce a ban on guns on me, it would use the threat of violence and violence itself to make me conform to its laws. That is something I can never support. Do you think if I refuse to give up my guns I deserve the violence of my government?
