DIMMU BORGIR Part Ways With Drummer NICK BARKER? - Jan. 26, 2004

Norwegian black metallers DIMMU BORGIR are strongly rumored to have parted ways with drummer Nick Barker (ex-CRADLE OF FILTH, LOCK UP).

The group, who recently cancelled their Japanese/Australian tour, have yet to officially comment on the matter.

Barker joined DIMMU BORGIR in 1999 as a replacement for original drummer Tjodalv (a.k.a. Kenneth Åkesson). He has since appeared on two full-length studio albums with the band: "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" (2001, Nuclear Blast) and "Death Cult Armageddon" (2003, Nuclear Blast).

WHAT???? ARRRRRGGGGHHHH ... Actually. I don't care. Their newest release DCA was a huge disappointment. So fuck Dimmu, as long as he stays with Lock Up, I'm happy.

According to BWBK.com, DIMMU BORGIR publicist Maria Ferrero has confirmed that drummer Nick Barker has left the band. No further information is available at this time, but details will be announced as soon as they become available

I actually met Nick Barker when Emperor was touring and he was filling in on drums in Borknagar. He was a pretty cool dude, and my friend, who's a drummer, had me take their pic together. This was right after he'd joined Dimmu. He seems to have a hard time sticking in a band, so I wonder if it's him or the personalities in the bands. Wonder where he'll pop up next

As previously reported, DIMMU BORGIR drummer Nick Barker is no longer in the band. The remaining members of Dimmu Borgir have issued the following official statement regarding Barker’s departure:

“Nicholas has been removed from the line up of Dimmu Borgir. A session drummer will be used in the future. Don't waste your time speculating why, we have already moved on. See you on the road very soon! - The boyz.”

Apparently this is the only statement the band will be making regarding this situation. Any additional questions asked of the band regarding this matter will be answered with the same statement.

Dimmu Borgir are currently busy confirming upcoming tour dates and will continue promoting their latest release, the Death Cult Armageddon album.

hahaha definitely not on good terms

i remember after the atlanta show right before we left, nick had a bottle of crown royal in his hand and went on nevermore's bus to steal their booze

   I can picture that dude sneaking around the tourbuses in corpsepaint... trying to not get seen on a commando-style raid to the NM bus

I's glad Nick has left.
I's always hated him, and Dummy Burger, for some reason. Mainly because of how he treated my's mate Astinue (the Australian guitarist who used to play for Dummy Burger a few years back) and how Nick shafted him and caused him to leave the band.
Which is both good and bad, since we have him playing in Australia now and producing some of last yeas best albums -like Chalice -Augmented. :headbang: :kickass:
Oh, well. Now at least I's don't have to fork over $60 plus bucks to see a band I's don't really care for because a bunch of my's mate would have dragged me off to see them.
Peace
