When it comes to disco I prefer a record like Van McCoy's "Disco baby", but take out the gross "The hustle". Patrice Rushen and various other has also done some good disco, like Sister Sledge's "He's the greatest dancer", Boney M's "Rasputin" (their only good song), Earth, Wind & Fire's "Let's groove tonight", Diana Ross' "Upside down" & "My old piano", Indeep's "Last night a dj saved my life", and so on. I've never could stand the Bee Gees. White disco sucks! Black disco has some memorable moments, although a great deal of it get tiresome, especially as I dj's a little sometimes and i play 70's funk stuff, but all the chicks wanna dance, so I gotta play that disco crap! I think the only white disco-like song that I like I can come up with is Jigsaw's "Listen to the joker", but that's also some bad-ass shit and pretty funky!!
When it comes to Zappa I prefer his songs "Pygmy twylyte", "Dummy up", "Village of the sun", "Echidna's arf (of you)", "Apostrophe", "Why does it hurt when I pee?" and maybe "Cheepnis". "Titties & beer" is the best song on "In New York" IMO, but still not enough for me to keep the record. I had 8 of his records, but now I only have 3 as it was just too weird for me! I don't think "Bobby Brown" is particularly good and the album, "Sheik yerbouti", wasn't particularly interesting either IMO!
Also, did you know that Anal Cunt also made a version of "Staying alive"?
