Disconnected Tone pot connections on guitar - now it buzzes

It's weird because I've done this with all my other guitars with no problem, but I I disconnected all the wires connected to the tone pot, electrical taped the metal pieces of wire sticking out, put the guitar back together and now it plays but there's this nasty buzz going on.

Any ideas to try before I spend money on a tech?

I took the tone pot out completely, disconnecting all the wires connected to it. I believe on my other guitars I simply disconnected the wire that goes from the volume to the tone pot, and left the other two wires and the tone pot physically in the guitar. Perhaps that was the mistake?

Your input and bridge will still need to be grounded otherwise you'll get buzzing the whole time.

Yep, I'm an idiot, took it too far. Guitar tech time. Just bought the guitar 2 days ago. Fail
