The MT-2 allows for more control over the sound, the HM-2 is more of a hot rodded overdrive than an all out distortion pedal.

I agree, MT-2 is better because it is more versatile. You want a METAL sound, but you want your own metal sound, so i'd go with the MT-2 since you can adjust it more.

i have heard that the new line 6 uber metal is pretty cool. but i havent heard or tried it out myself, so i cant really say.

The Uber Metal is the best pedal I've ever used. I'd go for it over any boss pedal.

If you're looking for a typical Death Metal sound, then buy the MT-2

I've used the MT-2 a lot, and I'd say that you can get a pretty solid death metal sound out of it. At the same time, you can play a lot of other stuff with it, like punk, hardcore etc. It's very versatile. I haven't used the Uber Metal pedal but I have heard very good things.

I used to own a DOD FX86 Death Metal Pedal, it was awesome, i bought it with the intention to use if with my bass, but it is a guitar pedal. It sounds awesome on my bass, so it would definatley sound immense on a guitar. I sold it when i got a big zoom fx processor. But it was amazing!
