Has anyone heard this? Not sure how many Disturbed fans there are here, but I enjoyed their first two albums and want to know if this is even worth picking up. Indestructible was just released in 2008 I think, so this seems kind of rushed. Thoughts?

I really dig the new album. It's hard to give it a listen and not judge it in comparison to Indestructible or The Sickness, but that's just par for the course. I like the riffage a lot and it's a solid album all the way through. Everyone will obviously have different opinions though. A few people said it was lame and boring, and that "It's nothing like their old stuff", while my one friend has been spinning it endlessly. Disturbed has always been a staple in my music regiment, as The Sickness came out just after I got into Metal. I say give it a shot, it definitely wasn't a disappointment.

After my OP, I've been scouring through tons of clips and youtube rips and it definitely sounds like something I like. Believe was by far my favorite Disturbed album, and this sounds pretty dang close in my opinion. Thanks.

biought this, after regular business hours, at my local FYE last night..i was still in the store when they closed their doors, so i was able to buy it once i got to the counter with my other picks (Cynic "Re-Traced", Apocalyptica "7th Symphony"), along with the new Cephalic Carnage.... listened to the Disturbed on my drive home, which thanks to an accident on the main road into my house was just enough time to listen to the whole thing, and i have to say that it's a solid Disturbed CD....

i didn't really hear anything "new" for them on it though, other than track 10 which has a bit of a different vibe, and the opening riff to track 4, which would be cheesy in a modern extreme metal band, but which came off quite cool and compelling in a Rock band.... additionally there were a smattering of odd production decisions here and there throughout that had me really puzzled, like leaving a number of out of tune words in the vocals in two or three of the songs, among other, more minor issues....

but overall it rocked like a Disturbed CD and had a nice, aggressive mix by Neil Avron.

I really considered myself a Disturbed fan with the first 3 albums (for some reason knew them since the first album, even if they weren't very pupular over here back then:lol:)
Loved 10.000 Fists (really cool mix of the first 2 albums)
Indestructible was strong too, even if it wasn't much new stuff, but still cool.
Haven't bought "Asylum" yet, but I remember that "Another Way to Die" was really boring for me when I heared it as it came out...
"Asylum" was a bit more exciting, but I really didn't hear anything new that got me at first listening.
Had a quick listening through most of the songs and youtube and I have the same impression I had for the song "asylum" itself. Really nothing new, and some parts/riff REALLY remind me of certain other songs :/
Gonna pick the album out anyway, since I have all the other ones but I'm not very thrilled tbh...
seems they copy paste a lot these days unfortunatly.
But since I saw them live the first time I anyway lost a lot of interest in them, since the show was really a let down.

Guitars sound far too distant, really not liking this mix, there's no impact to any of it.

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen. I haven't picked it up yet, but I plan on buying it today hopefully. This song has decided it for me :)

those of you talking about "thinness" or "distant guitars" are either smoking the crack or are listening to shitty online streams or something.... i'm listening on my Gene's and comparing to lots of other current shit... and i cannot make either characterization.

+1

Sounds like solid mixes to me, I think everyone is jumping to that conclusion becuase its not the typical sample replaced drums, boosted upper mid heavy guitars, but considering its not, its pretty thumpin'.

The guitars sound dryer (and more metal) than their previous albums. I like it, but I prefer 10000 fists.

I totally agree , it sounds great to me. I think I might actually pick this up...

Listening to the CD now. I stand by the assertion that I don't like the tonal characteristics of this mix - particularly the thin-ness of everything other than the kick. Just gives me the wrong vibe altogether.

Music is pretty lame, even by Disturbed standards sadly. Similar ideas, done better on prior records. Wish I had passed on it.

I like the drum mix, especially that fat-ass kick, and I honestly loved Indestructible musically, so I'll probably snag this

Ya definitely the firt thing I noticed for sure. The drums sounds SO GOOD! I love that kick snare combo they got going on. Toms are a little "tuned down" for my taste, but solid drum sound for sure.

The guitars just seem really 1 dimensional. They don't really pop out at you. Solid songwriting as always from the guys. This is a definite picker-upper.

What way did I take it? I'm just trying to ascertain what my mixing has anything to do with this record. To my knowledge I had no involvement in it.

Perfectly fine with the idea that many here find the mix agreeable. I do not find it objectionable, but neither do I care. Just reaffirming my initial opinion after taking your advice re: putting down my crack pipe and not listening to an online stream, before doing so.
