Hi guys,

I just finished mixing a song for a friend of mine with an awesome solo of Jakub Żytecki (Disperse):

EDIT:
a proper mix (not-a-guitar-test) is here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/31556005/Terrormuzik - Medusa (final mix by Musza).mp3

and a YT link (the guitars are louder here for obvious reason):

I wonder what do you guys think about the mix?

Thanks for all the opinions and suggestions and enjoy the riffs :)

Sounds like mathcore, the music is all over the place and the intro was almost enough for me to just close the video honestly.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't choose him, he choosed me to mix his stuff... I agree there's a lot of mathcore now but I tried to make it sound a lil bit different than the others (without this "PODy" djent tone). Looks like I failed :p

The whole intro was like in the very beggining but he wanted stubbornly something like a phone ring so I made it 50:50. Now it's tipical mathcore intro, you're right :p

I fucking love it man!! brutal m/ the mix is top notch

Thanks dude! I didn't expect such a comment, nice to hear it.

love part from 1:40. Any chance for DIs from that monster guitar?

Isn't that a little string dampener you've got near the nut? The red thing.

yup, exactly

+1. Drums and bass guitar are almost inaudible and the guitar tone and song structure are incredibly ear-fatiguing.

It'a a guitar test and that's way the guitars are louder clouding a bit rest of the mix. But thanks, it's definitely not a top-notch mix in my opinion, any advices?

Just try by getting great tones already before tracking/mixing. It´s pretty difficult trying to give someone advice on how to mix correctly...i dont know how you work, but i guess you need to work on level control. You dont want the powerhouse (drums) to be buried. Try setting the levels by soloing the Kick, Rhythms, bass, and get a nice and solid power section going. If you´re happy with the result you´re getting, start mixing the rest into it.
That´s the way i tend to do things, so it might/might not help you, but give it a shot!
