yep, that was my aim
actually I referenced the guitar sound that is on clayman...
I remixed the last part a bit, put the guitars a bit more back, also less scooped and a tad less lowend (it was overpowering before).
Also no tubescreamer this time, here's the result:
Instantly reminded me of In Flames ... even before I read the whole thread and even before I read the filename
Would you share some details? Settings, eq's, comp...
Guitars quad-tracked.
Wagner Sharp (settings all at default though mids @ 0).
Mesa Impulse.
CurveEQ (Clayman, mainly boosts @ 60hz, 1k, 2k)
And last but not least some C4 multiband.
Guitars could be crispier/tighter though, strings are like 2 months old now while playing almost every day...
I tried to counter that whilst boosting too much of the heights..
The updated version sounds very "Clayman-esque" !!!
You succeeded !
Personally as Dandelium said i'd use a bit less gain maybe.
About the bass i think you should do some bass programming instead of playing those bass lines with the guitar. It will sound wayyyy better. Now that you have a kickass guitar sound it'd be too bad to have a really poor bass sound, uh ?
personally the high end is too fizzy for my taste, it sounds brittle to my ears. It is definitely too scooped, and is there some compression I'm hearing on there?
