Yeah, she is here at the forum, but I can't remember her name.... and she was with Orphaned Land.
I don't mind people headbanging... I mean, it's show!! but I have to be honest: Oh God, that was a bit annoying, I have to say it myself. And I did see the security guy telling her to stop. lol First time I saw that during a show lol
I mean, I don't mind at all... as long as I don't eat hair... and I don't have hair on my face for an hour (making it almost impossible to watch a show). If that's the case(which never was), I, of course, would go somewhere else. If I AM the one bothered, I should MOVE! And GO AWAY! ;)

People who open mosh pits on a concert as mellow as The Gathering's do not have the right to complain about anything!

I love headbanging, and I try not to whack people with my hair when I do so. Sometimes it's unavoidable if you're in tight quarters, but in that case, I keep my headbanging down to a minimum. I wouldn't want someone whacking ME with their hair (especially if it was all sweaty) so I give others the courtesy of not whacking them with my sweaty hair. :)

For a good performance/set, there is a very possible chance I would not stop headbanging for its entirety. I'm a little too energetic and hyper to just stand and twiddle my toes while watching a performance of my dreams. The music consumes my soul, I feel as if I can shoot lightning or fire or dogfood out of my hands, haha. Hoorayyyy headbanging! Cheers!

See, once again though, no one in this entire thread suggested you do otherwise. Unless you also mean "there is a very possible chance that I will not stop spin headbanging with my long hair and smack people who are next to me in the face constantly". If that's what you meant, then yeah, there are those of us suggesting you do otherwise.

Other than that, have at it!

And to Empress about a thread where someone was saying they were annoyed by a blonde chick headbanging in the photopit during the Therion set. As I recall, a large group of girls entered into the left side of the photopit for the Therion set. Oddly enough they were the same girls who had tried to push their way to the front only minutes before but gave up when people wouldn't budge for the lot of them. I would think the annoyance may have been more to do with this group basically making their own front row because they couldn't within the actual crowd than the actual headbanging. I imagine it'd suck pretty hard to stand at your front row spot for several hours only to have some random people use the photo area to make their own front row directly in front of you. I believe sponsors are allowed to be in the pit for a few songs of the band they're sponsoring (someone may have to correct me on this) but I don't recall that any of these people were the sponsors for Therion.

They weren't.

Trust me.

As for headbanging......it's cool and I do it, although my hair doesn't usually 'bang' that well despite being longish.

I don't enjoy inhaling or eating hair, though....and I don't like it when my glasses are yanked off my face by someone's hair. That's happened a couple of times by freak chance, but never at ProgPower. Usually I leave my glasses in the car for any show where I expect a lot of close-quarters headbanging and (urk) crowd-surfing.

You're a model headbanger! :headbang:

Yeah, I know you were a/the sponser but I wasn't positive if you were the only one. I was going to make a joke about you in a corset but that's Friday night and Therion played Saturday :erk:

I know what you mean. I always try to wear my contacts to concerts. Unfortunately, I don't have an up to date contact prescription as those only last 1 year and my health insurance only pays for eye exams every 2 years. Really lame. So I haven't had any contacts in a few months. Luckily I can get a new exam a couple months before PP. Anyway, The worst I had happen was at a show at the Webster in NYC. It was an MTV $2 show featuring Regis, Trapt, Finch, & Evanescence. During Finch's set, the crowd was going nuts and I had stupidly worn my glasses. Somehow, I ended up getting pushed around enough that my glasses were actually bent back right near the hinge. I think I got elbowed by a crowd surfer because I also recall having a nice large welt on the side of my forehead, too. These were plastic glasses that did't just go back into shape. I brought them to the place I purchased them and they had to heat the plastic to carefully somewhat return it to the correct shape. Didn't work that great since I could never get those glasses to sit straight on my face ever again. Plus the lens would easily pop out.

You're a model headbanger! :headbang:

Thanks! :)

I saw Blind Guardian and Leaves' Eyes on their 2006 tour. The girl next to me had a guy on her right with hair so long he managed to whack us BOTH with his hair. And apparently he was so exhuberant he ended up humping her leg a few times. :ill: It was pretty disturbing. And the guy next to me kept nailing me with his hair as well. And we were in the front row! I would have thought that'd be a safe place from a hair-lashing, since there's no one in front of you. I was wrong!

There is no safe place at a Metal concert! :heh:

I'm not sure seeing Evanescence for $2 would outweigh having to see those others as well. :heh:

I had my glasses badly messed up at a Dream Theater concert.

By a crowd-surfer. (!)

Back in 1993 or so. (!!)

This was at a show on Long Island at a place called the Malibu Beach Club. We had carpooled up to the show from GA and FL so we had to do some quick hunting the following day to find a Pearl Vision that would do the repair in time. DT was playing again that night at Birch Hell in New Jersey and then I had to help drive on the loong drive south. We managed it all....barely.

I've had a dim view of crowd-surfers ever since. :p

Headbangers are cool...just don't drown me in your hair. :heh:

Unless I'm surrounded by short-haired, or bald metal fans!

...What? It could happen!

one of the funniest things ive ever seen was a bald headbanger and pp6

he had to have been the fastest headbanger alive, it was just hilarious watching him, no offense to bald people! this guy in particular just looked hilarious

not to mention at that same prog power, a drunk guy playing air guitar, im sure a few of you might have saw him, oh god it was hilarious
