Does anyone reamp with a wah pedal?

Seems like a good way to add some spice to that perfectly nailed, one-in-a-million take for a solo when the guitarist doesn't have the fortitude to play something highly technical and competently manipulate a wah pedal at the same time... Does this work as well as I would assume?

Ok fine...he's attempting to play something amazing, but it's coming out a little sloppy every single time, and the deadline is up. :goggly:

No reamping was involved, but yeeears ago I summed three tracks of harmony guitar (left - center - right), ran that out to a wah pedal, recorded the effect to a new mono track, and blended it in with the stereo trio "just for fun". Tres disco.

I don't own a wah at the moment, but I'm looking to get one again soon and will probably attempt a variation on that same 'technique' for a lead or two. I mean, I like the sound of a wah pedal as much as the next guy (unless I'm on a trolley with Kirk Hammett), but I like even more the idea of being able to control whether the guitar tone is 100% wah'd or 10% or somewhere in between.

if you don't mind I'd like to play around with it some

As if I could say no to a dude with a nail gun. :D

You'd probably be doing it with a copy of a clean DI track then reamping it, right? When I originally did it I was using three otherwise finished tracks, so really I was wah'ing the sound of the guitar, amp, speaker, mic, room... everything. That sort of thing can get harsh pretty damn quick.

I reamped through a wah on the BACKMASK track "Zero Point" for the solo. Basically, I didn't want to commit myself to any particular settings on my Dimebag CFH wah, so reamping into it allowed me to mess with the settings and try a few passes without having to do multiple takes of the solo. It came out killer!

To get the feel of it right though, I played my guitar unplugged while I used the wah, instead of just rocking the pedal alone - it helped a lot!
