Just wondering how open minded people on this board are.

I see lots of people on the internets discounting music because of genre. For instance: "They were blasting some stupid emocore shit."

Since I'm starting first, I'll say that yes, it does bother me a bit when people trash entire genres of music. It strikes me as very ignorant.

Voted no.

Listen to this and you will agree, there can not be any good music coming out of this genre.

No, it doesn't bother me, but not for the reason that the poll mentions. It doesn't bother me because I'm all up for the "it's their loss, let them be stupid if they want to" attitude.

^Yeah, I don't really care. Some people think that all the black metal bands suck. Others think that all the jazz sucks. I don't give a damn.

Genre tags don't worry me when it comes to what I listen to. It doesn't really bother me if someone trashes a band because of genre, I guess mainly because the only opinion I care about at the end of the day is my own, haha, and if I like it, why be bothered what other people think about it.

Actually, now that I'm in a ranting type of mood, it never ceases to amaze me that metal-heads, despite all the bravado about being 'different' and 'underground', care so much about what other people's thoughts and opinions are about their music when it is simply dismissed as 'noise'. What did you expect?

I don't value anyone else's opinion of any band.

If you like or like a band or genre good for you. That being said, while there are genres i avoid because most bands rarely venture outside of the creative box (i say this with metalcore in mind orwhateveryoucallthosebandswiththefuckinghardcoredancingkaratebullshit) of course there are some bands that will transcend the expectations and norms.

I went with yes,
simply because of those die hard death metal fans, stating shit like "all soft music is shit".
although i was like that, i found opeth and opened my eyes to a whole new world of music that can do alot more than make you want to hit the person next to you.

There is a double standard amongst knuckle dragging metalheads, whereas they trash everything that isn't metal and wonder why everyone doesn't see the genious in the music they listen to. Oh, the irony. I don't see them giving other genres a go, y'know dig a little deeper, yet they expect people to recognise that their music isn't 'purely noise'.

I voted yes when this thread first popped up because I was thinking "well I don't like rap period and all mainstream rap is absolutely terrible but i guess some of those lesser known guys have a genuine message to convey and are getting across in a sort of artistic way" - same goes for pop sort of..

Then today I thought of emo music and nu metal and other shit and realized I should have voted hell no.
