Does it bother you when people write off a band as trash because of the genre?

I voted no but there were so many times that I was proven wrong, I should have voted yes.

Habits stick onto you I guess..

(currently addicted to Japanese-pop for example ahaha)

the following genres are pure garbage and are indicative of at least mild retardation in the listener:

-metal
-punk
-electronic
-pop
-new age bullshit
-"noise" (lol @ this genre name, it's like they're admitting it)
-rap/hip-hop
-any combination of the above

I listen to quite a bit of music that Arasmas would probably write off as "new age bullshit." Does it bother me that he considers it as such? Nah...I won't lose a second of sleep over it tonight.

So I vote no. Doesn't bother me in the least. :-)

It only bothers me when I see "50 Best Albums of the Year" lists from magazines and websites that completely ignore metal (or only list short haired, indie metal bands). As if there were no viable output at all in the metal arena.

thanks bro, I listen to metal and electronic (more trance etc than dance music from the 80s bullshit) so I guess I'm mildly retarded :erk:.

regardless, I'd have to at least agree that these aren't the best genres in music all the same.

It's not like metal's the only genre that gets ignored.

You could say that metal magazines ignore everything that isn't metal (except for maybe Terrorizer but then they get slagged for having stuff that isn't metal). Remember that those mags are usually aimed at a particularly crowd. A lot of the guitar magazines have too much metal, as if they are the only ones, along with a few rock dinosaurs, are the only ones that can play guitars well.

i voted yes, but when i read some of the posts here it occured to me that i misunderstood the question. Now that i thought about it my answer is: No, it doesn't bother me if somebody dismisses a band because of the genre. Nevertheless, i think that it's wrong to do so.
