Does your DAW software kill creativity?

Yeah, but you're forgetting the assember code speed advantage.
speed isnt really everything and if you have to do extra steps than how is it faster? im just tryin to understand oz, not tryin to start anything. i mean with strip silence and the way you can fade in dp i dont think it could really get much faster.

Once again like I said I have no performance issues with SONAR. My current project I am running somwere in the range of 80 tracks at any given time; with mulitple plugs and a soft synth. No problems at all. So the justification of me spending 3000 dollars is not something I am going to take up. Thats not to say it would not be the correct choice for others. But for me when the time comes were performance has become an issue I think I will be looking into my hardware more so then my software. Thanks for the info though.

No offense taken. We're all here to learn stuff. It's not really an "extra step" once you see the process in action. My question is, when stripping silence in DP, can you do a global adjust to leave a few milliseconds before the actual sound across multiple tracks? I.E., before a tom strike?

In sonar I can strip silence and tell the program to remove all audio in the wave that is at silence. This leaves me with a few clips that are sliced up. Simply activate the auto fades and I am in buisness.

cool oz. i agree completely. to answer your question. you can adjust the parameters of strip silence and when you apply it, the tracks will still be selected and you can just adjust the edits by grabbing each end and pulling it to where you want it then globally fade, bam. lol. i hope i explained that right. take care man.

sonar has auto fade? can you set it to say, 3 milliseconds on either end? all I know of in sonar are the automatic crossfades which sound like shit when you have say, two guitar takes, one comin in and one going out.

I've been using something called "autolooper 2k" which works well to fade the first and last couple of ms in/out...however it requires the takes be cut, trimming applied (now we're talking destructive editing) and then the autolooper pluggin run on those takes. I'd love if there were a non-destructive way to do this without manual adding fades etc...

I know sonar has a strip silence feature... I used it for years. I guess I'll have to post a couple of pictures to illustrate what I'm talking about.
