I was having this discussion recently with some people that insisted Pantera were the dominant metal band between 1990-96.

Now, I can't cop that shit so who was the dominant metal band in your opinions?

Well, I'm inclined to say Grave Digger, if by dominant we are meaning best.

The Reaper
Symphony of Death
Heart Of Darkness
Tunes Of War

Nothing can compete with those except other Grave Digger releases. (Knights of the Cross, Excalibur and Rheingold to be specific)

You can't cop that shit? What does that mean? Anyway, Pantera would win the mainstream crown for sure.

Can't imagine a black guy using that term but hey, to each their own.

Anyway, being a 'my pals' and all I'll vote for Living Colour.

There are tons of better bands within the period of 1990 - 1996. Psychotic Waltz, Fates Warning, Death, Saviour Machine, Dream Theater, Solitude Aeturnus, Count Raven and so many others.. Pantera were dominant in sales ONLY.

Carcass. Made 3 of maybe the top 40 metal albums of all time in that time span. Morbid Angel too maybe.

In terms of just sales, this has to go to Pantera.
