It sounds like they're trying too hard. James is a good vocalist and they're not letting it show. The best part of the song is the up-front bass, which has rarely been seen in DT. Why does DT feel the need to try and pretend they're pantera?
I've gotten used to the song after a few listens, but I hope the rest of the album isn't like that.
I miss the 'adventure' feeling. A DT album is supposed to feel like an adventure, a sprawling musical landscape of moods and everything. SDOIT definitely had that down pat.
The worst part is Labrie's vocals...he used to be able to be convincing when singing aggressively on Awake, now he sounds so forced, and on this track a bit too much like James Hetfield...
