Dream Theatre recommendations?

Sorry, I don't feel ripped off for thinking this is pompous ass. Actually, I feel like genius for not lining their pockets and falling for overblown wanking horsecrap.

On second thought, it might make for good target practice, but I'd rather save the shell for when I can shoot one of the band members. Hell, I'll probably get a medal

hehe you see that is it. You won't feel ripped off because you have made up your mind. But for those of us who have decided the contrary, can see it as a huge loss. There is nothing to be gained from hating a band, only something to be gained from liking them.

Touche

Touche? I suppose so. Afterall, I do enjoy hating unreasonably shitty bands that are hailed by dumbasses. System of a Down for a recent example. I mean......YOU'RE SHITTING ME RIGHT?!?!??! However, Dream Theater is one of the most bombass bands in the history of the entire universe and I pity fools who don't see their brilliance. ::Arrogant smiley from hell, with a huge weener::

"We know you can play the guitar, but shit, don't shove it in our face. Showoff." Why not? How else would you even know they could play that well? Jealous or modest? ;)

The vocals on some of the songs can pierce my brain, but I can't deny how well they play live on "Live At The Marquee".

Bombay Vindaloo, dreamlord! WANK WANK WANK!

why not? because you can express much more without doing so. Listen to kerry king for a while, he is a fast guitar player with no soul...is really sad his leads are just frenzy to show off his ability.

Yeah. I realized that... LATER. I understand that faster doesn't mean it's better.

"Sometimes what makes it better isn't the sounds but the silences in between." Hundred bucks if anyone can tell me who said this. ;)

and check them out live for sure....

they will be touring with joe satriani and kings X in the US in August and September this year. They have their European tour in June.

Yes!!! Thanks for reminding me...If the tickets are less than $50 I'll probably go. I've seen Vai live, now I need to see Satriani. And Hopefully form these recommendations I'll like DT as well, so the show will kick ass.....:)

You all argue over and over and over on whether or not DT is terrible, good, excellent, or even GODS, but it is all opinion...and is it not a great world that we all don't enjoy the same things?

btw, for the recored, DT is one of my favorite bands and so is Opeth.

Personally I love DT, that is, Dark Tranquillity.

No kidding? I just purchased a compilation cd titled Destination 6 and heard Dark Tranquility for the first time, in fact, I was going to post a new thread about them, but I can't remember the name of the track...I think they are very good, at least from that one and only track that I have heard...I think I will check them out...what cd of theirs do you recommend?

Here are my faves in order:
1. The Gallery
2. Skydancer
3. Haven
4. The Mind's I
5. Projector

There new album is coming out sometime this year. I have all of their CD's and The Gallery is killer. Try The End Records, they had it about a week ago for like $11.

Thanks for the advice...I usually puchase my cds at the CD Warehouse here where I live in Fla...they have a heavy metal section, maybe I will find one of their cds this weekend.

Anyway, they are on my shopping list, thanks again...btw Dream Theater rules! ;)

The Gallery is the best for sure. Arguably musically, but surely lyrically. Projector sucks ass. I never bought Haven b/c of Projector, though I have some of the mp3's and they aren't too bad. This new "Damage Case" sounds like it may be the best of the last 3. I hope so.

Skydancer is not bad. I'm indifferent on it really, but it is better than projector, that is for damn sure! Heh.
