Drudkh - Handful Of Stars

Here's the biggest irony. The Slavonic Chronicles EP is actually MUCH better than Handful of Stars is. The EP is far more reminiscent of the real Drudkh.

I love A Handful of Stars. It feels like a natural progression and it feels fresh. I dont care how much metal it sounds or not but to me the feel and atmosphere is still there so I am more than happy. One of my favorite releases this year for sure.

Every Drudkh song on every Drudkh album has been exactly the same goddamn thing. Like every other shitty hipster "black metal" band, they've never once demonstrated the ability to write a song where stuff actually happens. Instead, apply the same five or six techniques to the one or two chord progressions that each of their interminable songs uses, and morons lap it up. Here's a riff. Here's that same riff, tremolo picked. Here it is played 40% slower in arpeggio form. Here it is strummed as a series of open chords. And there it is pretending to be an acoustic interlude. But it's still the same boring goddamn riff to nowhere. Now it fades out (because actually concluding a song might demand the inclusion of a second riff, and that's way beyond the capability of these clowns).

I like it. But I also like most of the other blackwave/metalgaze stuff like Lifelover, Alcest, Amesoeurs, Les Discrets, Lantlos, etc.

I also find the metal-purist backlash quite humorous, so please continue.

i like drudkh and will continue listening to them. please continue with the backlash of someone liking a band defending them from the backlash of some wannabe elitist doofus because the continuation of this just shows the lack of intelligence and tolerance and the continuity of the stupid.

please continue.

I loved Autumn Aurora for the fantastic compositional piece it was. It isnt very technical or hard to play, nor do I think their musicianship is always tight and accurate, but they occasionally get the job done quite well. idk, I like their style and thats all that counts.

I think Drudkh is one of few black metal band that actually manages to make the bass and the drums really interesting. The guitars usually serve as the canvas upon which the drums and bass serve as the colours whereas in most other black metal bands its the other way around. Of course this is more true for the later efforts.

And I am a sucker for guitar solos which isnt included that often in black metal.
