I am thinking about picking up a new drum kit and cymbal set since all of my old stuff is midway through an electronic conversion.
The brand that I'll be using is going to be Meinl. I am having a hard time determining what cymbal size and thickness I would want and if I am looking for something darker or more brilliant.
I was just wondering what everybody here tracks with cymbal and drum wise. In my head I have the notion that bigger is better cymbal wise but I don't want to get stuck with something that sounds shitty in a mix.
For drums, the company is going to be Pearl and I am trying to determine between a VBX (Birch) and VMX (Maple). I am leaning towards the maple because I want a fat and warm tom tone and I have heard that birch tends to be more mid-high forward.
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it!
