Drum editing with no click track

Andy, I heard you say, in a reply to one of the questioners on the live web stream, that you record some drums tracks with no click track. Question; how do you edit them without the grid? I know you can do it by ear but, is there some knowledge that you can impart on how to better edit un-clicked drum tracks?
