drum software

Could someone please tell me if there is any free software out there that I could add drums to my songs with and maybe use as a metronome?
I've only been playing guitar for about a year but I've started mucking around with sound recorder, and singing, and drumming on the arms of my chair. (hey!!! it sounded like double kick bass!!!) But both of them broke off after a while...so I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative maybe free??
