Hey, I've never heard a full Katatonia song, but I've listened to a few short clips. From what I've heard, the drumming sounds very basic and straightforward. Not that this bothers me TOO much, but I like some variety. Am I mistaken about this, did I just hear a few bad clips?

Then you obviously heard some samples from Discouraged ones or Brave Murder Day because on Tonight's decision and above all on Last fair deal gone down the drumming is very varying and filled with little finenesses :)

I actually think the drumming on 'Last Fair Deal' is particularly colourful and spritely. I think with Katatonia's evolving style there is more room for more elaborate drumming....

katatonia`s drumming was always good, but on 'last fair deal gone down', it has reached a superior state of art. i think they got really lucky with daniel, his drumming is absolutely fabulous, though i think the new album`s drumming is a little bit.. i don`t know, maybe weaker... it might sound strange, but that`s how i feel it. it`s nowhere like in songs as 'tonight`s music' or 'teargas', songs which show amazing drumming patterns. we`ll see though, when the album is out.

either way daniel rules. and katatonia is perfection.
