Something just occurred to me as i was listening to epilogue.

Theres an omnipresent duality in the emotions of the character in MAYH: on one side is the love for his (former) wife and the acceptance of her forgetting him, on the other side is his hate and anger towards her.

This duality is present on the epilogue: on the left side of the stereo, the riffs keep ending on a high note, and on the rights side the end note goes down. So the left side is the positive side of his emotions and the right side is the negative side.

It almost sounds like they did on purpose, but then again, it might just be a coincidence.

Has anyone else thought of this?

Or it could just be because counterpoint harmonies sound good? I don't like to lend myself to over-analyzation. A person in the past suggested that the harmony at the end was symbolic for the reunion of their two spirits or something.

well in the guitar.com opeth guitar lesson torwards the end.. they mention epilogue and how it was just some riff that he couldnt even remember.. and taht the solo was just a jam over it .. or something... so i really dont think mike intended it to be THAT deep :err:

bye the way, now that i come to think of it, the joining of the harmonies is more likely to represent the character making peace with himself than the joining of the 2 souls - the woman doesnt die.

I said, what the fuck was that, because it has nothing to do with this thread. And yes, I have.

STOP

TOP POSTING

seriously it's the most annoying thing in the world

Because it messes up the flow of reading.
