I ordered a Dunlop heavy gauge stainless steel set of strings for my bass, they should arrive soon, if somebody wants, i could do clips

Ordered a pack of that stainless whatever the fuck it was as I am a heavy sweater when I am playing. They turned ugly even quicker than my usual Ernie Balls.
Through the years I have tried everything from DeanMarkley to DR but always came back to Ernie Balls. Probably not going to change either.

I guess this guy wants a Dunlop endorsement. I gotta go with Guru though....other than broad strokes(EB's are more scooped) it's hard to know much from watching these. My favorite part is the corporate video stock music at the heads and tails.

Funny, the other guitarplay of my band called me today and told me that he feels like he needs more gain on the amp with D'Addario strings than with Ernie Ball Strings.
I've always used both of them (depending on which ones are cheaper in the shop) but never recognized much of a difference with EMG's tbh...
D'Addario seems to be a little more bright and direct though from what I remember...could also just be imagination though
I told him that I think it's because the old ass Ernie Ball set was...well, old ass and that he can dial in more gain because new strings arent as muddy as old ass ones.
Haven't compared two new sets of different brands on a guitar with passives though

I used to use D'Addario, but they broke too often (also it was my first years of playing the guitar), then I switched to Ernie Ball and never looked back. I don't remember breaking any string for who know how many years.

I tried a set of the Heavy Core strings... I liked them... but I can't remember what guitar I put them on.

I do remember that they made the low E sound a little different... I just don't remember how exactly...

I used Dunlop strings for quite a while.
Mainly because of the wound G on the 12 gauge set.
And the fact that my local doesn't ever really carry any other brand with a 12.

Pretty nice.
Didn't break often.

Now I'm using Ernie Ball not even slinkys.
Haven't really broken many.
Mainly its the low E string that breaks the most.
Odd.

Never noticed a huge difference in tone.
I remember the Dunlops being a bit duller than Ernies.
ESPECIALLY the acoustic strings.
Those things go dead after a half hour of playing.
No life at all.

Yeah? Back when I started I always got EB's because they were the cheapest strings I could get. Broke all the time. (there's a reason why it's EB's that get given away with magazine subscriptons ;) )
Changed to Daddario and went from breaking a string every month or so to breaking a string every year or so.

For the record: using primarily D'Addario at first and more recently Newtone, I have not "broken" a single string in 3 years on my ESP LTD MH400. I've had the windings slip in the floyd rose a few times but that's it. Bear in mind that I've probably spent on average about 1.5 hours a day playing that guitar

Anyone know if D'Addario have fixed their fabrication errors yet?
I want to switch back, but i want to be able to tune my guitar.

I will give them another go next time I buy strings, then. Which should I get for a normal-scale guitar tuned to B?

Pretty hard to get a belieavable advice on how to sound good from a guy playing through a Line6 Spider.

Since we are on the subject of strings, what was that newer brand that came out over the last few years? Supposedly they are really good strings, but for the life of me I can't remember what they were called.

Curt Mangan is a pretty new brand (started in 2004) and I like them a lot. Better than anything else I played.
