Dynamic Mic Comparison (MD421, M201TG, SM57)

Hey guys!

I recently upgraded my mic locker a little bit and I did a comparison between 3 dynamic mics.

Amp is a 6505, cab a Mesa OS 4x12, Maxon OD808 in front.

The mic position was always the same. Transition conus/dustcap, about 10cm away from the grill.

Sennheiser MD421 U-4:

Opinions?

I'm kinda impressed how much the Beyerdynamic tightens up the bass response of the amp, but it's relatively dull compared to the other two.

SM57 is very grainy, but it might push better through the mix.

I also got an m201 recently and also thought it is very smooth and dark sounding. That's what I like about it. It doesn't have the 57 crunch. But yes, in a mix the 57 often fits.
