E - standard tuning ANYONE?

Sylosis is probably one of of the heaviest bands I've heard in E Standard. Although I'm a 7 string player, I do tune to B standard so I have the E standard option going on too, because I still believe in the power of E standard if the playing and music kicks ass.

But you guys think that getting a GOOD guitar sound using lower tunnings is easier than using E? And to be more specific, using amp simulators (RevMKIII, SoloC, 8085, etc etc).

In my band, we usually play on E, and only god knows how many tests i've done, and no matter what (eq, compression, different impulses...), my sounds never sounded as good as some of you post here
