E604 vs E904

I'm about to buy 3 new tom mics, and I've been narrowed down between the E604 and the newer E904. The E904 is more expensive, so I'd assume better - but I really can't find any info as to what the difference between these two are.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with both of these? Or what is the main upgrades to the E904 series? I checked out that recent tom mic shootout and the placement actually makes the E904 sound weaker in the lower end.

The 904 is better for toms in my opinion. I have both and the 604 is a bit boxy and muffled compared to the 904 which is a bit brighter and punchier overall.

i've worked with 604's for years but lately i bought a set of 904's and really, it sounds like the attack response is quite a bit quicker than with the 604's

Has anyone here used them for guitar cabs or something other than toms?

I appreciate all the responses, just placed an order for 3 of them. I had been micing the toms with 57's and the kick with a Shure PG52, but just ordered the E904's and a D112. I'm moving the PG52 to the floor tom since it has a lower response than the E904's, but am quite excited. Thanks again for the comments!
