my amp is engl special edition
My first mic is sm57 and very ok.
I need another mic to blend with 57
I just tried heil PR30,but it seems over bright for me and got harsh at 6khz
I saw Jeff loomis and alexi laiho use e906 mic in EMGTV. I suppose e906 might be darker than sm57. Is it a standard for engl amps?
anyone tried md421 on engl amps?

The 57, 421 and e906 all have 4kHz (ish) spikes so in my opinion they will all fit together very nicely.

The e906 has a subtle high-pass roll-off so the low-end should be tighter, without rumble. This may be a problem with the 421 as it's more of a tom/bass/kick mic - in my experience and from what I've seen in other's studio videos. But always keep in mind that if your mic is too dull, move towards the cone to make it brighter. You can always change the position and the frequency response will change to suit your needs.

Personally, I would go with the e906, you'll absolutely love it, and it's great for snare too. Tighter low, smaller build, cheaper, and looks better in my opinion.
