Early Maiden

A bit off-topic I guess here and don't quote me on this but I also heard that he (Di'Anno) was in prison for a bit because he got caught with an AK-47 and cocaine.

I don't know how true that is though, although he did say in an interview that I saw that he had been in prison.

Pretty crazy if it's true.

Haha I had no idea of his new new life as a gangsta. Running Free mu nig'

I guess Paul Dianno will have a gangsta rap album coming out pretty soon.

Hahahaha! For real? Jesus, i didn't see that coming! When did he go all rapper?

I didn't either. He heard he can make a lot of money being a rapper since people only care about Bruce Dickinson and not his Maiden era so he has now become a wigger. This album will have him rapping in autotune and will have guest appreciation by rappers like 50 Cent,Axl Rose,Flavor Flav,Fred Durst,Jonas Brothers,Lil Wyane,Snoop Dogg and Sharon Osbourne which her and Dianno diss Maiden which the Maiden members will not like this song.I guess he thinks that metal was being taken over by homos like Manowar that he wants to be a Rapper now.

Well, that sets it for me. From this day on, i will show Paul no respect. Maybe out of nostalgia for sentimental reasons when listening to some old Maiden album some time, but shit, i can't believe he did this. What a fucking sell-out!

Hi

I suppose this could be classed as a bit of a random thread but basically I have recently been listening to a lot of Maiden. Moreso the early stuff (the first two albums) and I find it has a very different feeling to everything after Bruce joined the band. It had a very 'Punk' feel to it, it feels very unique compared to later Maiden which kind of blended in with everything else in 80's Heavy Metal in my opinion.

I also think that Paul Di'Anno is somewhat underrated and overlooked to be honest, and as a fan of Maiden I'm actually starting to prefer Di'Anno's stuff over Dickinson's these days. Although I still think Dickinson is the superior singer of course, and his work is still superb, I just find myself wanting to listent to the first two albums moreso than the others.

And it's kinda strange how Di'Anno fell off the radar after he left the band. I know he still played music and still does today but he's not very big really, which is strange considering he was the vocalist for one of the biggest Metal bands.

But yeah, I just thought I would share my opinion on Maiden, and as you may guess from the name, I'm a big fan.

Thanks for reading.

I hardly ever return to the first album these days, but Killers I like... a very coherent sounding album, despite the lack of a real standout track. Wrathchild really bores me now though... heard it too many billion times.

I wouldn't say they sounded more like standard 80s metal when Bruce came along... I'd say they improved markedly... Powerslave through 7th Son is a perfect run of albums. Every song is killer.

Paul Di'anno is a total arsehole and I'm glad he didn't make of himself because he's utterly shit nowadays. He played my city and it was the most pathetic disappointment of a gig I've ever been to. He can go and fuck himself. and I'm fed up of reading his lies. He contradicts himself all the time, over and over again, to the point where I don't believe a word of his horseshit any more...

I guess I worded that wrong, as I like everything Maiden has done to be honest (with the exception of the two Blaze albums, which are ok, but nothing special). I just meant that they sounded more clean and well produced, which is a good thing of course, but I was just trying to distinguish between the first two albums and the following albums. The first two are very raw sounding and so this is what gives it the Punk edge, aswell as Di'Anno's vocals being more Punk aswell.

I just think the first two albums feel very unique compared to everything that followed, and so this is the reason they are my favourites and I prefer Di'Anno over Dickinson, even though Dickinson is clearly the best singer without a doubt and his albums etc are all superb.

But yeah, Di'Anno these days does sound pretty crap to be honest. I've watched some live videos on YouTube and his singing is quite awful compared to his Maiden days.

DAMN DAMN DAMN! I'm not gonna lie, i fell for it! I'm having a terrible hang-over that's killing me :hypno:. It would have been just like a rapper to do something like that though.

Don't be too hard on yourself Ajax. Keep in mind though that it isn't acceptable to be fooled be Randy Moss twice.

I would have to agree completly. If you watch the maiden dvd that came out in 05 I think they go into depth about the first two albums and IMO the first one is spot the fuck on and they have yet to accomplish what they had on that album. paul unfortunatly has a lot or had a lot of vices and it inhibited his performence live. He was sex drugs and rock n roll where maiden...well steve anyway was not. At least in an excessive expression of the term.

Pauls Vocals have always had a Darker tone and feel, where as bruces seem a bit more forced. Listen to him live and you will hear his strain. I Love powerslave, ssoass, peace of mind and other albums. But, too much operetic vocals for maiden are a turn off.

Also is it me or do these first two albums still seem to have the magic that the yhad when you first heard them? Ya know how a song kind of tarnishes and becomes stale and old, whereas these two albums still have this beautful essecne that just bound from the speakers and fill the room , your mind and soul.....

Anyway,always remember...Its a strange world;)

Something about your post makes me think Randy Moss is quite the joker :Saint:. I'm kinda new here :goggly:. I'll keep your words in mind!

OT: I love Powerslave. My fav Maiden album. So many good songs! Aces High, 2 minutes to midnight, Powerslave!
