Earthworks KickPad anyone?

has anyone used one of these things before? I just found them in my random wanderings and im a tad skeptical about it...seems gimmicky. Like a quick fix, solution to every problem kinda thing.

It's amazing, I used it the Earthworks 3 mic recording kit a few months back and it was so clear.

but all the other earthworks gear seem pretty top notch, so i wondering why they'd go and do something left field like this.

I used the 3 earthworks package with kick pad once also, and it was phenomenal... Ridiculously clear and open... probably wouldn't use it for metal, but if you want a natural sound that is really accurate... give it a shot.

True, but I can count on one hand the amount of negative reviews I've seen on sweetwater, unlike MF - I wonder if sweetwater edits the really scathing ones out?

FWIW, i think MF censor/screen their reviews as well...i posted 1 of the SD blackouts soon after i got mine, and made a couple of less-than-positive remarks with no swearing, etc....and the review never showed up
