On eBay, even though you pay for the item.... do you win the auction?

Obviously you still have to beat the others who may be willing to spend just as much as you, it all comes down to who gets in the last bid.

So vote, do you win auctions on eBay or do you simply purchase things in auctions as if there is no competition involved in it.

The Ebay marketing team were very smart. They’ve actually been able to fool people into believing they are winning the opportunity to spend spend their own money.

Supply and Demand theory.
If apples were limited, and you were prepared to pay the new price of $4 per apple - would you be a winner, or an idiot? ;)

If there was one apple and lots of people wanted it and you got in the last bid before they finished auctioning it, you would win the auction even though you would also be an idiot for bidding that much for it. :)

It's not just about how much you're prepared to pay, its about getting the last bid in as well. And there's tactics involved too I spose hehe.

Real auctions don't end until nobody else wants to bid more than you. Therefore Ebay is not a real auction, it's simply an outbidding-to-a-deadline competition. Which, of course, you win.

But, it's definitely not an auction!
