Edguy/In Flames

That new Edguy is pretty good, even if it suffers from the typical "Edguy symptom" to me : killer tracks + boring songs on the same cd.
Not bad anyway, "Mysteria" and "Piper Never Dies" are worth hearing!

Ah, and I don't like the new In Kornz at all... ;) or :yell:

I haven't heard the new In Flames, but I'm sort of worried arter this short but sweet review!!! Fangface, are you suggesting they they have changed their sound and now sound like Korn???? :hypno:

Please say it's not true............ 'cuz Korn really blows chunks! :loco:

They don't sound exactly like Korn, but now they're somewhat influenced much more by Korn, Linkin Park and the likes, it's pretty obvious.
The once-cool guitar work is long gone, the songs are more basic and "jumpy", so... it's not really my cup of tea.

But I may be deaf 'cause they will probably sell shitloads of this one ;)

New In Flames sound nothing like Korn :p lol

It's not like thier old stuff, but who really wants to keep making the same albums over and over again? Every band should have space to make different styles of music, weither it's more mainstream or not. :)

I'll probably buy it because I have all of their other stuff. I didn't like R2R, though.

If you didn't like R2R then you won't like this one.

Well I'm still waiting for mine to show in the mail.
C'mon quit bustin' In Flames' balls. I like 'em, they have "evolved"
and some people don't care much for change. I can't wait to hear
both of these discs!

I'll be honest I loved Rerout thought it was a great album and alot of ppl screamed *Sellout* why? because they were actually improving their sound by adding vocals that better fit the music instead of 10 songs filled with screaming .... its not like they did anything groundbreaking they just put better vocals on it ...... so maybe I do care a lil bit about inflames and I hope the new one Kicks all of our asses!

I don't necessaraly have a problem with evolution, see Fates Warning, they have evolved a lot (and lost many fans in the process) but I still love what they're doing.

My problem with In Flames is solely that their music becomes simpler and simpler... and they hide it by adding keyboards and sound effects everywhere, even if I don't dislike keys at all, I can enjoy some songs on RtR.
But riffs are much more basic now, drum patterns are more basic, etc.
Where are all the ideas they used to have? To me it's not evolution but regression.
Those better vocals are in fact harmonized vocals, nothing special to do in a studio, I saw In Flames live and I also heard bootlegs, the guy is not really a good "clean" singer, far from that. His vocals sound way better on albums than live, and there's a reason... it's so easy to improve your vocal performance in a good modern studio.
Don't get me wrong I have no problem with hearing clean vox in their records, I even support that, but I'd like to hear real singing then, not Jonathan Davis-like whining or distorded vocals.

You make a good lol bunch of points there .... Reroute wasnt bad for their trying new things in the studio but your right about the simplicity thing and using Fates as an example is perfect because I cant really say they're stuff has gotten simpler ... its actually gotten more complex ummmm hahaha shit I lost it ... I forgot where I was going with that ..... but anyways yes who the hell wants to hear In Korn? lol Good clean vocals over their old style of playin would be awsome!

More power to any band who wants to 'evolve', but not 'copy' a band like Korn. "Jonathan Davis-like whining or distorded vocals" is exactly what you get. A few acceptable tracks does not a good album make. But for those who haven't heard it...I do hope it is everything you want :)

I got my package from The End Records today I have been listening to The Edguy disc all afternoon... What a great disc! There are a couple of filler tracks, but over all I have to say that I love it! I haven't gotten around to the In Flames disc yet.
Do you figure Edguy would at all benifit, from the current success of The Darkness in the USA? If they were marketed right, they could possibly have success on a smaller level around here.

Thats great Fuck I need to get that *Cries* fucking stupid Vermont well atleast I know if Sixx likes it I'm gonna Love it ...... and yes they prolly could benifit from that But I havnt even heard the Darkness yet so I'm not sure that I would be comfertable with it like ya know if The darkness really sucks ..... I wouldnt want to see Edguy get caught in a Backlash of antimetalism lol

Jonny D, I tell you what if you don't shit your pants when you hear this record then I would check your pulse, because you've flatlined my friend! There's so many killer tunes on this record, I haven't heard a well rounded like this since Glorious Burden.
I think they remixed King of Fools, sounds like they added additional vocal tracks.

Korn?! I have to admit that I picked up their new record & it is far from the Korn of old, there's some heavier stuff on there as well, as Kron making some really melodic stuff. I know, I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but I had to point out that they have "evolved" too! Would I see them live? Like Never. Would I buy their next record? I doubt it, I think they are on their last legs & they are trying to go down In Flames.... By the way, I have yet to listen to the In Flames record, I got sidetracked by the Edguy disc & a Clapton disc I picked up... I will get to it Sunday. We'll see if they are trying to go the Korn route!

Sixx! I'm cleaning my Huggies, I went up to the ol mall and Low and behold there at FYE for the first time ever was Edguy! I snapped that fucker right up! I love it I'v only Taken a few breaks from as not to wear it out to quick .... Awsome Record! I knew it would be they get better everytime! now tell me when you said something about the darkness was that in referance to the song "Lavatory Love Machine"? ..... its good to see your a full blown Edguy fan My work with you is done for now! As for King of Fools they added 45 seconds to it at the end which is fukin awsome  the only thing that slightly bothers me and its happening all over aparently there is a skip on track #2 at the time of 8:20 or 21 havnt paid that much attention to it did you notice this too:? .... aparently its only on the American Pressing.

oh yeah and hears what pissed me off lol about 5 hours before I went to the mall I said fuck it they wont have it there and I ordered it off amazon.... the one time I lose all faith in my record store they come through and there was no way I was gonna wait a week or 2 for it so now I will have 2 copies :loco:

Jonny D, my reference to The Darkness & Edguy, is this, that if there's people that "like" what The Darkness is doing then they will "love" what Edguy is about. There's stuff on the record that ranges from Power Metal to Pop hook Hard Rock, there's something on this record for fans of all genres of the heavier stuff...

AH I see Very good point man ..... I was kinda surprised when I heard L.L.S I never expected to hear Edguy sound like Twisted Sister lol ..... so I'm guessing Edguy is Better than the Darkness? :) are the Darkness even worth hearing after picking up the new Edguy?
