Let's say I mic an amp and take a DI at the same time. Then let's say I group the two tracks and use the DI track as my reference for cuts and moves (since you can make out transients much better and all that, obviously)

will this fly? I'm cutting and moving both the tracks in all the same places and times, so I think it should work but.... ?

It certainly works, but sometimes I feel the mic'd track doesn't glue the way it should. There are some "gaps" in editing points. Maybe it's just an impression.

on a side note, i guess that's exactly what happened to trivium - ascendancy.
don't get me wrong, i'm no trivium basher - actually i really like the ascendancy tbh - but those galloping riffs are just so ridiculously tight, i'm willing to bet they were edited to hell and back.

Hi @ all:

what are you editing on your guitar tracks? I'm just cutting the noise and feedback but nothing more.

So...how do edit guitars :D

And do you have some more samples of extremely edited guitar sounds?

Thanks!
