Effect of elastic audio on guitar DI's?

How detrimental is elastic audio to guitar DI's? I mean, it may create artifacts, but does that affect the quality of the reamped tracks?

It's just so much easier(faster) to quantize everything then to slip it all into place by hand.

Try it. If you can't hear the difference then it's fine.

I use flex time in logic for edits that aren't really severe. Sounds ok as long as you don't go to nuts with it. Its the same deal as elastic audio so I imagine there wont be a problem.

If you quantize with elastic time compared to beat detective/slip editing on drums you can hear a HUGE difference. So I would assume that there would be a difference.

Yeah, the effect is nowhere near as pronounced as with drums, but I imagine there would still be some loss of fidelity.

Since the effect is impossible to hear (at least to me) after reamping, I guess I'm just gonna go on with it.

I use it for every band i record now. It doesnt work on low tuned bass DIs though

yea it's good. see the bands constructs and caulfield on my myspace, all EA edited DI's.

you guys using x-form or polyphonic?? i've been doing all x-form

X-Form may take a while to render, but it really does sound fantastic.

Always monitor with an ampsim, especially on bass. When stretching too far, the low end of the signal completely drops out and you can't really tell on the DI itself.
