I seriously dont get the praise for that album. It's decent, but it's nothing I haven't seen before in other bands.

I admit, you can find music that has similarities, like Funeral Mist or Ofermod, but I can't think of anything that really sounds the same as that album.

Yes. Industrial black metal, you can also find touches of dark electro (though sparsely). Check the albums With No Human Intervention and Generator.

Imo it would be either Ruun or Below The Lights, although i am really digging Vertebrae atm.

Bands similar to Aborym would include Mysticum, Blacklodge, .o. and Neo Inferno 262.
