I recently got Eluvium's Copia and I cannot stop listening to it (along with Balmorhea's self titled debut). It has to be one of the most beautiful records I've heard in quite some time. A mix of soothing ambient drone with classical piano music.

Best album of 2007 for me. Anyone heard this?

i'll have to check this out. i'm familiar with eluvium from their "talk amongst the trees" album which was pretty good.

i'd recommend checking out rest of the albums, specially "an accidental memory in the case of death", which is entirely piano based music. "talk amongst the trees" is a bit different with more focus on heavily layered ambient sounds.

bump. My god I love Copia, to the point it would have to be a top 50 album. In 05 I heard about them and got heavily into their first 3 and when Copia came out I didn't like it as much as the rest. But it keeps getting better and better. I would say it's my favorite release by him now. Copia really cultivates all of what the other albums stood for in a perfect marriage of electronic/ambient/post-rock sound he has been working towards imo. If you haven't checked Eluvium out, do so asap. Cannot wait for the next release. He is apparently releasing an album under his name as a limited pressed release and digitally some time soon.

If you liked Eluvium you're going to love these too:

Balmorhea - Balmorhea (beautiful acoustic guitar driven music)
Balmorhea - Rivers Arms (acoustic guitar, with piano sprinklings here and there)
Peter Broderick - Float (neo classical stuff, mostly instrumental)
Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks (classical music utilizing piano, cello, violin, viola etc. with readings from Kafka's The Blue Octavo Notebooks...pretty fucking good)
Max Richter - Songs From Before (same as above, but with Robert Wyatt's readings of Haruki Murakami's text)
Tulsa Drone - Songs From A Mean Season (instrumental post rock with lots of instruments)

Not familiar with Peter Broderick or Tulsa Drone, will check them out, thanks.

i was in the process of using the search function for the word "piano" because I was listening to Franz Liszt, and came across this thread of a really good artists.

Eluvium is great, off this album I like Prelude for Time Feelers and Radio Ballet the best, beautiful piano music.

now, back to looking to see if there is a piano music thread.
