EMG-89 > which 3 pins for humbucker only mode?

Anybody know this? There are 7 pins on the 89, so essentially 5 possibilities:

1-2-3, 2-3-4, 3-4-5, 4-5-6 and 5-6-7

I want to know which 3 will give me the humbucker only mode, I would like to put it in my Explorer which has only the 3-pin quick connect setup in it.

wait, are you trying to use the quickconnect from an 81 with the 89? That's not gonna be possible, it needs 3 wires per pickup + a shared power line. You can certainly run the 89 as just a humbucker, but not via a standard 3 conductor quickconnect cable.

Fuck. Yea I want to use the regular 3-pin connector on the 89. So in order to use the 89 I will have to transplant the p/p knob for it and everything? It's in my Strat right now and the 89 I got was brand new but before the solderless kit was released so it's all soldered, meanwhile the Explorer has 81/85 in it with the solderless kit.

doh, nevermind, you'd need the pot to I suppose. You could buy all the parts necessary from guitarpartsdepot, though, but whether it's worth the cost...up to you.

ah shit, you're SOL on that one. I don't think that the 89 is usable as just a humbucker even if you got a solderless quickconnect cable for it, which I'm not even sure they do.

If you've got a spare EMG pot, you could hook it up as just a humbucker and not deal with soldering all that crap on the p/p pot, and save some time that way at least

Well this is just going to be for a shootout so I don't need to permanently install the 89 to my Explorer.
