EMG bass pickups - stupid low output

has anyone else experienced this?

i've been dicking around with this schecter i just got, and have to set the preamp gain wayyyyyyyyyy higher than i do with both my guitars and shitty little washburn bass. i tried putting in a fresh battery and still had the same problem. the tone is good(at least as good as it can be with old-ass strings), but the output seems to be way off!

You may have a bad wiring there, I've had that problem with EMG equipped guitars, really low output, like if there was no battery, and everytime it has been one or two cables not making contact with the pot or the battery clip

If the wires going to the pickup are reversed you can experience that problem.

It´s normal. My 35DC's are way quieter than my 81 and 85, but it doesn´t actually matter. As long the tone stay good and without noise, just turn the volume up.
