EMG HZ h1's.

thanks for the replies. i don't have time to save more money, i've been saving for months now :p

i think i've finally decided on the ESP LTD SC-200 BK , after reading some very favourable reviews, and it looks pretty sweet :) don't tell me that basswood sucks too :D

also, it has duncan designed pickups, i know they're not real seymours, but i guess they'll do for now

basswood is better than agathis for sure but those duncan designed pickups really stink if you ask me, hate them with a passion.

edit: and whats with the placement of the pickups on that? :err:

That's Stephen Carpenter's trademark. Could be cool actually. I've been eyeing the SC607 (his 7 string model) for a while that has a similar pickup placement.

i've read a review where the reviewer mentioned that he'd also been skeptical about the pickup placement at first, but after messing with them he found some really great sounds... i hope the pickups don't stink _too_ much; oh well, i can always replace them i guess.
i'm pretty anxious to get the guitar, i'll tell you that :)

i suprises me that you guys say that the emg's hz are so shitty ( it could be true ofcourse ) but i have a dd on my pc from michael angelo ( speed lives ) and he hs this dean custom 450 with 2 emg hz pickups. and it sounds really clean etc. i don't know what to say.

That guy could make a Wal-Mart guitar sound great, so it's irrelevant.

Yeah, and I've also heard that Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom, and the guys from Exodus are using EMG HZ. I think that says more about the quality of their musicianship than anything. You can make any pickup sound good, but I think all of these artists would sound better with either a) Active EMGs or b) Seymour Duncan passives.

I have allot of guitar, Ibanez, Jackson,BC Rich, Gibson, Fernandez and others, but the funniest thing is that my cheap little Horner guitar has better tone that most of them!! HAHA Thats still cracks me up. Dont even know what pick ups are in it. "better to listen for tone than look for it" one of my famous quotes..
