Endorsements

Usually one dreams about an endorsement deal when money are missing and things are to be bought.

Chances are, when the deal comes your way it's just a businness thing since the great majority of the tools you need you're already using them or in possess of.

But it's always great to have free things.

Not true IME. It's true that metallica doesn't need free amps but the "artist pricing" and/or 'B level' endorsement can be very helpful to mid-level bands. For example, I have an Aguilar endorsement and while they haven't given me anything for free they loaned me some extra cabs for a tour and have provided an insane level of tech support.

My band has lucked outin a few cases, as we got them just through the dudes we contacted liking us. Our bass player got an endorsement from a bass maker just by emailing them and asking questions about a new bass they were releasing...I got an endorsement for amps and cabs by emailing the company to get specs on some stuff they had...Since my band is made up of gearheads, we tend to ask a lot of questions, and we tend to go straight to the source. This has been invaluable to us. Because, even if we don't get a "deal", we've built a relationship with someone (a name) at the company and we've received valuable tech support from these companies. That means a lot to us. And, they contact us about developments and ask how the gear is working, etc. We've even had stuff fixed on overnight cases for big shows we were playing.

Also, just getting on bigger shows has helped us in ways. When we got to play with some of the heavy hitters in American metal, we got offers off that show alone just because the companies told us "we would love to have more of our stuff on that stage".

How about if I made a trip to London....Climbed up Big Ben while HOLDING one of your amps just before goose-stepping around with a....certain flag in the other hand shouting "I AM HOMOPHOBIC!!!"

Then would you consider it? LOL

*No offence intended*

Send me pictures and Ill get a contract drawn up. You gotta make it to the top though.

The big plus point of the endorsement deal is full warrenty without question for the duration of the endorsement and access to loan stock. Basically if you were signed with us and were heading from the UK to the states Id sort out backline for you in the US for the tour so you wouldnt have to shipyour own or hire it when you got there.

The thing I do find quite ironic about the whole thing is the bands who are in a possition to afford whatever gear they want get it for free while the smaller bands to can cant afford to eat on tour have to buy gear at full price.

There's a drummer in my area who has endorsements coming out his ass, sticks, custom drums, and some handmade custom cymbals. He's even been featured in Modern Drummer, but the dude sucks, he messes up 4/4 beats. He's got all sorts of endorsements and has even done some recording with a national act. but thank god for Beat Detector because he plays about as steady as a drunk trying to walk a straight line.

Now that is a good offer haha! Yeah it should be the other way round. You would probs have more smaller bands playing more gigs all over the place with the backline support from an endorsement such as you suggested.

Now I was smart and could actually be arsed at the minute Id photoshop a picture of me on top of big ben with a cab :p LOL

What amps do you deal with anyway? Brand? :p
