Engl Powerball vs. Engl Blackmore

Seven string A#
Just turn knobs at 12.00. Presence 9.00

I have same post prosessing in both clips. 400hz cut and 2khz boost.

Gain only at 12 and no boost? Nice. Contour off?

*edit*

I'm getting a totally different live sound, so I'm guessing your micing has 100% to do with it.

I'm sorry I can't offer any advice on how to improve it... I'd like to say, however, that I have listened to this clip about 25 times today (on endless rotation on my way to band practice), and I just can't get enough of it. Awesome music, awesome playing, grooooove!

Man does that Blackmore sound good - the Powerball one does too, but while they're more similar than I expected, I feel like the Blackmore is a bit more upfront and has a bit more presence (strange that it also seems a bit more grainy though, I expected the Powerball to have that characteristic more pronounced). Anyway, killer song and AWESOME lead playing dude, not only in technique but more importantly in note choice and sense of melody! :headbang:

They really sound suprisingly close to each other. I still would say that the Blackmore sounds better. Killer song, and really good playing man! Very groovy and delicious.
