Engl Savage First Clips!

Kyle's guitars always sound good largely due to his great technique.

I think it's kind of cool, but a bit flat and over-saturated to me. It lacks a particular clarity and chunk that Ola's clips have in abundance. It sounds more like this is a Savage trying to be a 5150.

I'm sure I'll have some better results as soon as I have it longer. It was also used... God knows how old the tubes are.

Thanks for the kind words.

Greg, if I were you I'd sell the Mills for an Engl Pro 4x12, front-mounted V30's and Engls seem to be a match made in heaven! (case in point: Ola's clips, as well as the Fredman Engl tones such as "In Sorte Diaboli")

And sounds good, but different DI's would really help highlight the differences (but no I don't have any to provide off-hand :p)

Do the Harley Benton cabs have front mounted V30's?

Ola's clips are all with a Harley Benton 2x12. I don't think he has any Engl cabs.

EDIT: nevermind, you meant front loaded with v30s.

Yeah I've basically concluded that I'm going to get a Savage or Fireball in the coming year simply because they seem so well voiced with this cab. It's a bit of an investment, as they are a bit dear after being shipped here.

Just listened, I think both of these clips sound pretty damn good. Much better than other recent Savage clips posted on here by some people. Nice job, Greg.

From everything I've heard, I'd have to say Mesa oversized cabs > Engl cabs. They just seem to sound better mic'd up. Front loaded v30 cabs tend to be kinda bright and middy in a weird way.

That savage-kyle clip sounds awesome, but the lead tone in the first clip is sweet as hell. Again, you are just making me realise how much I want a Savage :(

Amazing! That sounds kills me!

I had a Savage 2 years ago, but no Cab, since I'm recording in my apparement. Through impulse responses it didn't sound as half as good.
