Can someone inform me as to just how good "Below The Lights" is? I've heard great things here and there...just need some more detail. I think they're one of the most superb black metal bands ever...I'm just very picky..

I just got it Monday. It's wierd, but good. I definitely wouldn't call it pure black metal either; it's more of a mix of Viking metal and black metal.

I think Below the Lights is an OK album. I have yet to get into it. So far I think the tracks get regressively worse, but that's because I have yet to listen to the later tracks as much as I have the first ones.

Monumension is my fav Enslaved album so far, though.

Definitely top 3 of '03 for me. Its like BM + Prog Rock + Viking, i suppose. Its very distinctive and it fuckin rules. If you enjoyed Monumension, which you should (fuckin rules ), then you I expect you'll like BTL as well.

May I ask why you feel that way? Too simplistic for your sophisticated self? Come on, the album's a masterpiece. Epic and atmospheric black metal the way it should sound.
