I just got Phormula yesterday, and I must say that this is one weird band. There is quite a bit going on during each song, so I'll have to listento it again, but my initial reaction was that it is very good.

I don't see the IX era Emperor comparison at all. They remind me of a crossbreed of Arcturus and Scholomance. Their new album should be awesome.

ephel duath are the greatest. i've been a fan since the 'opera' days.

Dave is making a new album 'The Painters Pallette' due to be released on elitist records and they are using a full live band!! I'm really excited about the new album! :)

They've finished the actual recording now and they're going to be spending a few weeks mixing before I can link a track here.

I'm tempted to post a demo track, but I'll check to see if it's okay with the band first.

I have to say that I was quite stunned when I heard the demo. It wasn't what I expected, but it was everything I hoped for. I can safely say that there's no band in the realm of metal doing what Ephel Duath are now doing... Some bands talk of Jazz influences, but this new stuff combines Ephel's sound of old (twisted guitars, complex rhythmic changes, etc) with a genuine "freeform" Jazz feel. Pure organised chaos. It sounds like a band playing whilst falling down the stairs... but in an oh-so-good way!

Impossible to describe beyond that, really..
