EpiActive vs. EMG 81/85

Anyone have any opinion on the EpiActive? I know everyone on here uses EMG's (mostly), and I have used them as well.

What i'm wondering is, are the EpiActives as good as Epiphone claims? They can't be that bad if they're included on the Prophecies...

Only on the butt-ugly and cheap EM-2s...

Not saying they're doomed to be shitty but my LP Custom came with the 81/85 combo, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gotten it...

My friend has the LP. That sonuvabitch is fucking nice. It plays like a dream.

No shit, the Prophecies are without a doubt the best thing Epi has come up with since the (now ditched) Gibson-smokin' Elitists...

If you're thinking about the EM-2, just do yourself a favor and check it out beforehand. If the PUs are crappy (and chances are) then you're probably better of going directly for the LP or SG.

Another thing, I've had a boner for the Goth series for a lifetime now, i've played the Explorer's (my favorite model, all time) and it sounds good.

I found one with Duncans, and another with EMG's, i'm leaning towards the EMGs, but i've heard a lot of good about Duncans. Thoughts?
