I have a maple bodied guitar, and want to know what you suggest for the bridge pup. Either 81 or 85? (Middle and neck will be emg sa)

I would say 85 because it's supposedly not as bright as the 81 which can sound a little thin depending on the wood. In my EC-1000 (all mahogany body and neck) it came with 81's, then I traded Brett on here for an 85. I tried the 85 in the bridge and it was not as bright, and was beefier sounding, it was cool but the 81 was better in the bridge as far as clarity and everything. The 85 is an awesome neck pickup for my guitar. My friend just swapped his EMGs around in his Jackon Warrior (alder body) from 81 bridge/85 neck to 85 bridge/81 neck and he couldn't be happier with how much it improved the meat of his sound. I would have suggested to just get both and swap them around if you didn't like one or the other in the bridge, but you have a H/S/S setup so you are stuck with whatever you get.
