I just had one.

Not everyone on this forum is going to be a mix engineer.
Some people need to stop trying.

I couldn't find a thread for this.

Yeh, i'm not trying to bash anyone. How would you go about becoming a mastering engineer? I'd rather master than mix..

I'd say most people here are more than capable, as someone who's been mixing full time for near on two years now you just have to take the plunge and absolutely work your ass off, not just in the studio but doing as much networking as humanly possible and focussing on ways to grow your business.

I know a guy, plays no instrument (wishes he could) doesn't record, mix, anything... he's simple Road Crew for a Sabbath cover band that do pretty well over here...

He loves it... gets a call, jumps in the crew van, helps set up... gets paid mainly in Beer...

Sounds like a canny job...

man i hate how people sometimes go "dude i wish i could play guitar, it would be so awesome!!", then why don't you just fucking do it? it's not like you need to be trained an astronaut or have a huge fortune to get started. not to mention most people learn to play a simple riff on guitar in minutes if they actually try, and that's probably what would suffice for most of these people. everyone in the world probably has at least one friend who owns a guitar so you won't need to buy one.

just get your lazy ass up and give it a try - if not then stop whining about it!

I get your opint, but its not a case of him being lazy, he doesn't have the time, and after so many years of doing boxing (and actually fighting) his hands aren't up to the task of anything beyong the odd chord... he should really drum...

WTF is up with my typing today... making me look like a total arse
