eq-ing multiple mics for guitar recording

hey guys, I think this has been asked a lot before, but couldn't really find it anywhere; I know I'm supposed to do what sounds good

but what is the usual way to eq-ing if you use 2 or 3 mics on a cabinet?

do you first set the volume of each track/mic so that you like the sound, and then do a group-EQ?

or do you EQ each track/mic seperately and then set the volume of the tracks/mics?

IF you were going to use 3 mics on the same guitar cab and use them at the same time, it would probably be best to eq them seperately IMO. The main thing to keep in mind is phase when using more then one mic on the same source.

i blend em, then bus them and eq there.
less faders to fanny with, less dsp being used

I usually use different mics to get differenct characteristics in the first place:

a) one mic that pics up more mids
b) one mic that pics up more highs
c) one mic that pics up more lows

Send them all to a bus, blend them as you like and EQ the bus.

Mostly I use just one SM57 or impulses, though ...
