Ermz compendium

I'll probably be buying it whatever the price, since it'll be almost invaluable to me aha. But looking at 'Zen and Art of Mixing' on kindle, it's £10 which is about $16, so I take back my +1 on $10-15. I'd say $25 is a more reasonable price.

Around £15 I'd say is a reasonable price, depending on the amount of content. I guess that's about $35.
That's about $25 :)

$10-$20 is definitively a good price and an insentive for people to actually buy it

But me personally, coming from the demographic you seem to be aiming for (late teens, early 20's, just getting into AE) I would pay $50+ and maybe more to be able to pick into your brain and experience.

Can't wait to see it! :)

consider this:
there are like ~2 people willing to buy it for about $50;
every other dude say that $15-$25 is awesome :D
I'm not trying to devaluate the amount of information and work put into writing that, but it turns out to be "less is more" :tickled:

IMO you're way better of selling lots for a few bucks than a few for a higher price.
+1, but its up to you. I'll buy it anyway :)

cheers.

So, we are saying we can pay 250$ for a plugin (trigger or whatever) but we can´t pay 50$ for a book that teaches us how to use the tools we recently bought?

Anyway, ermz your are da man!!!! keep up the good work!

I think those that regularly play 250$ for a plugin would probably pay 50$ for the book. But those of us that go off all sorts of sales and free plugins (and using Reaper, which is very cheap too) probably wouldn't pay 50$.

Especially when you're talking about people who read the AS forums and know how much info you can gather there.

Now, I would probably pay 10-20$, but not 50$.

You're assuming EVERYONE pays $250 for a plugin. Personally, I use free ones wherever I can because I'm a college student AND supporting my family. I've paid $50 for a book before, but it also was a hard copy, had color pictured examples, and included a CD with reference material to listen to and test projects to mess with. I'm sure the knowledge in his book is worth that much, but there's a breaking point where you have to offer more than just an ebook at that price.

I think some of you are confusing value with what it costs. A potato peeler is extremely valuable but it doesn’t cost that much. No doubt that this will be extremely valuable but if you make it cost too much it won’t sell. Ermz already knows this.

@ Ermz – I did a project where the client was selling essentially the same thing, a book. I put a PayPal link on their site for the ebook which was just a password protected pdf. Then we used www.lulu.com to publish the book. We set the price so the profit was about the same weather they sell it a hard copy or ebook version. Anyone who wants a hard copy can print it them self or order it from lulu.

Hi Ermin, I know you are busy with Lorenguard nowadays. But when will we have this e-book? Just waiting :)

If you used something like Bandcamp, but include he PDF in the zip, you could have a name your price, but with a minimum, and have audio examples packaged with it.

edit: D'oh, didn't notice this was a bump from some time ago.

I think by now he's already found and decided on a method of distribution and price. Now it's a matter of when he's going to release it. :D

Due to illness I've been forced to take a couple of days off audio work, so I'll take the chance to try to finish up what's left of the book. Right now my biggest hurdle is getting the cover designed, getting the book proof-read and formatted, and then the distribution part will come after that. I expect it to be up for sale before the end of the year.
